New iPad upload options

Have you noticed that the iPad now offers more options when uploading to My Learning?

You can now upload from Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and your Apple iCloud.

  1. Go to the file area where you want to place your uploaded files.
  2. Click 'Upload'
  3. Click 'Choose file'
  4. Click the 'More ...' option to switch on access to your other drives

Access to the iCloud drive is particularly useful as this gives you access to internal documents stored on the iPad

Unlock individual communication in the Locker

Now you can place files in a folder in the personal 'My Files' area of every student. The uses for this are many;

You can share reports and personal targets with students, and of course their parents..

Students can use this space as a personal e-portfolio or to submit assignments.

Keep on track with differentiated task lists

My Learning provides a simple task list tool that allows teachers to set clear, numbered task lists for any user in My Learning. Following the recent update this great tool is even better!

Task lists are a really effective way to support structured, differentiated learning for all students, to provide additional support for students with special needs and is ideal for even your very youngest learners.

Folder shortcuts for easy file management

It is possible to create folder shortcuts in My Learning. These allow you to copy a folder of files to a 'virtual' folder shortcut in another file area. You can change the files in the original folder and they will automatically update in the folder shortcut.

This is great for sharing files with, for example multiple groups that need the same files.

Group Forums for Rich Collaboration

Group (class and learning space) forums are now available on My Learning.

The key difference between forums and blogs is that students can respond in full multimedia. Your students can develop a rich multi-threaded discussion and develop critical argument and reasoning skills. You also have the flexibility to control the level of student activity.

Assigning weblinks or bookmarks to class groups

The enhanced 'Bookmarks' tool in My Learning has now replaced 'Channels'.

Any teacher can assign a weblink to the members of any class or learning space. The admin login can also assign links to the whole school community. The bookmarks are quickly available via the students' dashboard.

If you used Channels in the past, visit them now at 'Me' > 'Channels' to move them across to bookmarks with one click.

Get your notices noticed!

My Learning's sticky note, notice board now has a dashboard panel to display all notices on your dashboard, to view when you log in.

This makes the noticeboard feature a very powerful and useful school noticeboard tool for your whole school.

Grading templates to meet your assessment needs

In My Learning you can have different grading templates for different curricula, subjects, exam boards, phases, classes and learning spaces.

Choose from a default list of grading templates, or create your own, to meet the varied assessment needs of your school.

The video below shows you how, with your admin login, you can edit and create your own menu of grading templates and how to apply a template to the whole school or to just one group.

Setting a theme for a class in My Learning

Previously in My Learning you could set a theme and layout for all students.

If a single theme is not suitable for all your users, for example, younger users or those with classes of students with learning difficulties, it is now possible to set a theme for individual classes.

Simply log in as Administrator and visit 'Manage' > 'Theme Manager'.

Pin favourite groups and files to your dashboard

My Learning has a great new 'PinBoard' dashboard panel.

You can decide what you want to appear on your dashboard. Pin any class, learning space or file.

Anything that can be added to the clipboard in your file areas, can be added to the PinBoard.

Profile Picture - easy update

It is  really easy to update your profile picture in My Learning, via your profile editor.

Simply click on your name or your profile picture to view your profile. Click the pencil to edit your profile and click to change your profile picture.

So easy you probably won't even need the video to show you how - but we thought we'd include it anyway!
